Ask Web developers what method they prefer for streaming audio and video content and it's a safe bet you will get several answers, each with a variety of reasons. With this in mind, I decided to write this article and invite contributors to weigh in on this issue. We invite your opinions on programs, platforms and methods you use.

My vote goes to the Flash Communicator Server (FlashCom), Macromedia's Flash-based streaming program. The reason is simple, I have experience using it and it s not platform dependent. I have used the technology over the past 3 years, most recently to stream our live concert telecast for the digibands.com shows.

We also used FlashCom in March of '04 to present a live Online forum on Ozone technologies, which was quite successful (watch for a future article on how this was done).
